Athens invites hydrocarbon companies to invest in Greece

International oil companies were invited to start investing in hydrocarbon research in Greece, by Athens’ Energy Minister Panos Skourletis.

Skourletis invited companies to start investing in research and exploitation of potential hydrocarbon reserves in Greece, in a speech he made on Friday at the 45th Central-Eastern Europe & Caspian Scout Group meeting (CEEC scout group), held in Athens.

“To attract investments, the government has formed “an attractive, modern, flexible, transparent legislative, administrational, economic and taxation investment framework which incorporates relevant EU directives and aims mainly at fully protecting the environment,” Skourletis said.

The meeting is organized on the initiative and support of Greek refiner of Hellenic Petroleum (ELPE) with more than 160 representatives of 80 international oil companies taking part. (AthensNewsAgency via SigmaLive)

  1. Aha, as the Gulf of Corinth in some areas is only 30 meters deep friendly to environment means “we’ll face no problem to clean the Gulf after an accident but hey, no more bank robbers can escape per speed-boas any more”, also drilling at 5000 meters deep volcanoes is a stupid idea that could destroy the whole Eastern Mediterranean.
