Dearest and Esteemed People of Greece, You are being slaughtered right in front of the world’s eyes and nobody says beep. Least the Greek elite. Your Government. A few, but a few too many, allow the slaughter because it doesn’t concern them. They are blinded by the false glamour of the euro and of belonging to the ‘elite class’ of the noble Europeans (sic!).
This is the beginning of an open letter to Greeks by an author of the Canada-based institute Global Research. Author Peter Koening* urges Greeks to rise up, default on their debt and lean towards Rusia and Trump-run USA.
Calling the Greek government, “the caviar socialists of Syriza,” Koening writes:
They let their country bleed to death literally, morally, socially and psychologically. Medical care is no longer available or privatized and unaffordable. Pensions were reduced five times. They were never more than a survival kit. By now they have been slashed in some cases by over 50%. Hordes of people live on food handouts. Most social services, including to a large extent education have been sold out, privatized.
Lashing out at Germany and the holy roika – the criminal gang of three, IMF, European Central Bank (EIB) and the European Commission (EU); the latter a mere bunch of unelected corrupt puppets, the author incites Greeks to:
People of Greece! – Wake up.
Take things in your own hands! Don’t believe you politicians, your media! Get out of this criminal organization called the European Union, and this fraudulent western monetary system that is strangling you to death. Take back your sovereignty, your own currency. Default on your debt – the west can do nothing about it. Not if you run your country with your own public banks, and your own money, gradually but surely rebuilding a destroyed economy. Debt repayment is negotiable. […]
People of Greece, be aware of what is going on. Do NOT ACCEPT what your government, Brussels and the troika are doing to YOU and YOUR country. To the contrary, request the full reparation payment from Germany – and demand GREXIT, as a fully legitimate follow-up to YOUR July 2015 overwhelming NO vote to more austerity-imposing troika ‘rescue’ packages.
If you do, you will soon see the light at the end of the tunnel — a light that has been blacked-out for too long by Germany and the gangsters of the troika and your own government.
The article is long and kind of fuzzy, and the general idea KTg undestands is that the Greek people reject SYRIZA, New Democracy and Golden Dawn, exit the eurozone, claim their “sovereignty” and “own currency” back, be unshackled from the dictate of Brussels – and start afresh.
Without pointing at specific political ideology, Koening underlines that
Surely, Greece still has visionaries and the wisdom to remake Democracy. Remember, while we cannot change our geographic location – the future is irrefutably in the EAST.
With East obviously meaning Russia and Putin. What is also interesting is that the article is in favor of US President Donald Trump and his populist struggle against the “Deep state establishment” in Washington before he came into the White House.
What I find rather sad is that this article – which I saw on internet two days ago – has started to be re-posted and re-tweeted by people in Greece whom I know they are critical to the EU. As if Putin and Trump would not have an eye of Greece’s natural resources in the Aegean and the Mediterranean Sea as Germany and the EU claimed to want.
In this sense, I have to ask:
- Is the dilemma for Greece: Putin/Trump or the EU?
- Which capital has the better or the worse propaganda? Brussels, Kremlin or the new Washington?
Having run this website and blog since the Greece crisis broke up and the first bailout in may 2010, my experience has showed that those who supported Greece during the crisis were not always driven by the noble motive like the welfare of the Greek society. When the truth started to come out, I realized that Greece’s supporters were not critical towards the EU but merely anti-EU and pro-Grexit at any cost. After the administration change in Washington, the mask fell and I slowly start to understand and see the light.

PS Conspiracy theories sell well, especially when they fit well to the Greek conspiracy theory and the “Blond Nation” – the Russians – that will save Greece *sigh*
Well KTG, it is the truth (at least I am pretty convinced on this) that the so-called Greek crisis is not a crisis at all but a well-executed scenario to serve US, German and banking interests. Economists I respect, such as Varoufakis, agree. The Greek lending crisis started late in 2009, with the US trying to attack the euro. It was converted into a perpetual crisis of the entire Greek society in order to save the French and German banks and later on was used (and is still used) as an opportunity for the 4th Reich to acquire a colony of their own and a cheap natives-free early-stage-China-like production zone. Of course, none of this would have gone that far, had the country not have this unique ability to generate Quislings and traitors on demand, for just a fistful of dollars.
Given this, what the Canadian site says is the truth, and in fact mass uprising is the only course of action of any hope. Now, whether Russia is the solution for now, this is debatable, although it may be near true. There is something suspicious in the writings of the site: poor English, which suggests at least a non-native speaker plus other things…
Otherwise, at the advanced stage of decay the Greek social and political system is, anything which can make people wake up and react is positive.
Mr. Koenig’s English might not be to the liking of Mr. iannis, but he hits the nail right on the head,
not once..not twice..but in every sentence he has written..
The European Union ship is sinking anyway..with a bit of luck the “captain” (frau Merkel) will go down with it.. There might not be enough life-boats on board..so get into line now and demand your rights…and “Grexit”.!!!
Don’t let the “rats” get of the ship first.!!
The crisis started already with very, very high interest rates for ND government in spring of 2009, as a result of the December revolt
Peter Koenig is an elderly ex-World Bank analyst, very well known, who speaks simply and from the heart and is passionate about injustice. His English is idiosyncratic but charming, rather like KTG’s. Global Research, meanwhile, is hardly a “dubious” site but a top notch media aggregator specialising in foreign affairs analysis, and the output of a research centre in a Canadian university.. It was one of the 200 PropOrNot selections alongside Zero Hedge, naked capitalism, Paul Craig Roberts, Robert Parry of Consortium News etc. i.e. the Roll of Honour.
In this case by “east’ Peter Koenig is NOT referring to Russia but to the One Belt One Road (OBOR) project uniting Asia, Europe and Africa; and to the new institutions of the East underwriting this project like the AIB bank. Athens is already part of OBOR since Piraeus is the port of entry for this project and the railway north joins with OBOR’s southern route i.e. China-to-Spain.
62% of Greeks made clear in July 2015 that what Koenig describes is what they want; this was ignored by the SYRIZA government illegally (according to the constitution) and of course by the EU. This drama electrified Europe, including the UK, and Brexit followed. Since their (ultimately it will be Pyrrhic) victory the EU has doubled down in its looting and rapine of Greece – grab while you still can! – while our overpaid MPs keep up an appearance of “democracy” – after all this is what the West is about, innit? – by pretending to resist EU’s demands.
Even Juncker has given up on the EU for God’s sake. He’s just biding his time. Greece will be the last to leave though, KTG – the bankers want their fun until the party is over and they turn out the lights; and because of Greece’s geostrategic position for NATO (i.e. US).
Sadly true. And yes, the looting tactics and attacks on citizens have intensified, probably realising that there may be not much time left for pillaging.
I still however have the secret hope (possibly the only hope these days) that there may come one day when all the Quislings of the last 8 years of memoranda are publicly executed at Syntagma square. Those of the present government, which I think is the worst and the most criminal of all, I would like to see them go first.
