31-year-old Unemployed father of two commits suicide in Crete

A 31-year-old man shot himself with a rifle in the chest in a neighborhood of Heraklion on the island of Crete. He had left a note to his children. The man was found by his mother.

According to local media, the man was unemployed something that had burdened him psychologically. He was a divorcee with two minor-aged children.

The man was living alone.

His mother was trying to reach him on the phone since Saturday evening. On Sunday, she went to his home to find him shot dead.

In a note fund in his home, the man had said farewell to his children and his family.

“It is one more suicide in Crete that causes shock to local community,” writes Cretalive.gr.

I cannot tell you whether the number of suicides due to unemployment or financial problem have increased or decrease in the two years. The media often do not report such details when somebody becomes violent against himself. But suicides still occur. More often than before the economic crisis which is now in the eight year. Suicides increased by 35% in 2013 and 2014.

  1. 31, 2 kids, unemployed and divorced? Poor guy.

  2. Of course his death is not important. Of prime importance is that the big EU/US banks remain solvent!! A total disgrace! Heil Schäuble!
