Some 70 employees of the Greek Foreign Ministry were evacuated around 2 o’ clock Friday afternoon, following a police order.
According to preliminary media information, the evacuation order came after a suspicious package was spotted at the department assigned with the correspondence distribution.
Scanned through the x-rays machine, the package was found to contain a “suspicious device.” The correspondence had reportedly arrived at the ministry a little earlier.
Police fears it may be an explosive device, local media report.
Special teams of the Greek police have rushed to the ministry.
According to media, a controlled explosion will be triggered if necessary.
UPDATE:
The suspected package contained just a :blood measure device” ordered by deputy prime minister Yannis Dragasakis. The package was delivered to foreign ministry that had scanning devices.
