Julianne Moore message of solidarity to Susan Orfanos for gun controls

Hollywood star Julianne Moore, herself a mother of a son and supporter of gun controls, sent a message of solidarity to Susan Orfanos, the mother of Telemachus Orfanos who was killed during the shooting at Thousand Oaks last week.

Posting an older picture of her with her son on her instagram account, she wrote:

“I keep thinking about Susan Orfanos and her son Telemachus – who survived the Las Vegas shooting but was killed at #thousandoaks. Imagine her grief and the grief of all of the many many people who have lost their loved ones to gun violence. I won’t stop fighting for them until we have real change in our country @momsdemand.”

In a heartbreaking appeal, Susan Schmidt-Orfanos urged authorities to gun controls.

“My son was in Las Vegas with a lot of his friends, and he came home. He didn’t come home last night,” the mother said after the horrible tragedy.

“And I don’t want prayers, I don’t want thoughts, I want gun control. And I hope to God nobody else sends me any more prayers. I want gun control. No more guns!”

27-year-old Telemachus Orfanos, ‘Tel’ as his friends called him, had survived the Los Angeles massacre last year when a gunman slain 58 people at a country music festival.

Telemachus Orfanos was at the Borderline Bar in Thousand Oaks when a gunman opened fired and killed 12 people last Wednesday.

  1. The problem is the culture. 40 years ago students in schools in the US carried shotguns and .22LR rifles for their shooting classes. The only thing they were worried about is someone having an accident, as disputes were fought with fists.

The real culprit is the mainstream media that focuses on the shooter and why they did it, glorifying and magnifying the act while millions watch the spectacle unfold on TV. And if you doubt this, look at the shooting that happened in Crimea where the shooter idolized the Columbine, Colorado school shooters.

It’s all about culture. We either start rejecting this and focusing on loving each other enough to solve our problems constructively, or the whole world will burn in chaos.
