Guards at Greece’s museums, archaeological sites on work stoppage, April 12

Guards at Greece’s archaeological sites and museums will launch a three-hour work stoppage on Friday, April 12, 2019.

The guards union PEYFA said in a statement that’there are urgent issues in need of immediate solutions.” They threaten to escalate their protest actions saying that the work stoppage on Friday is a “warning” strike.

Among the list of their union’s demands is the immediate hiring 200 guards that was announced in 2016, the hiring of 500 permanent guards as well as issues relating to qualifications for managerial positions, and a single operation hours schedule for all sites and museums in Greece.

The work stoppage is scheduled to start at 8:00 a.m. and end at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 12, 2019.
