Censure motion filed by ND, Tsipras turns it into confidence vote

Main opposition party New Democracy filed a censure motion against Alternate Health Minister Pavlos Polakis. Reason for the motion was Polakis’ verbal attack against ND candidate for the European Elections Stelios Kymbouropoulos, a 34-year-old doctor with disabilities.

Responding to ND challenge, Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras turned the censure motion into a confidence vote

The Prime Minister made use of his constitutional right.

Speaking at the Parliament ND leader Kyrikos Mitsotakis described Polakis as “a coward politician, a troublemaker.” ND claims that Tsipras’ support to Polakis equals him with the Alternate health Minister.

Discussion on the confidence vote is expected to start Wednesday afternoon and last three days. The vote is to take place Friday midnight.

Tsipras is expected to win the confidence vote with the 152 seats he has in a Palriament of 300.
