Hardly have firefighters managed to set the big fire in Keri-Agalas under control on Monday, and another fire broke out on the island of Zakynthos on Tuesday afternoon. Τhis time the fire is in Maries neat the Prto Vromi bay in the North-West part of the island in the Ionian Sea.
The fire broke out short after 4 o’ clock in the afternoon.
As local media ermisnews reports, the fire started almost simultaneous at two places of Trilagada close to each other as the picture shows.
Immediate was the response of the local fire service that initially deployed 20 firefighters with 10 fire trucks. A helicopter and one aircraft are due to start water dropping.
Local media speak of a “big fire” that it does not threaten houses in the area, though.
UPDATE
50 more firefighters were deployed and managed to take the blaze under control four hours later.
However, the fire had spread quickly due to strong winds blowing in the area and managed to turn green forest land into a brown-black landscape.

Meanwhile, the devastating fire in Keri and Agalas over the weekend has left behind thousands of burned acres of forest and completely destroyed village houses.
