A 65-year-old British woman died in a fire in her home in Glyfada suburb of Athens, the Fire Service said in a statement. The fire broke out in the early morning hours of Friday, around 2 a.m.
Fire fighters found the woman’s body after they had extinguished the fire.

The woman was found in the living room of her ground floor apartment on Poseidonos Avenue, the main avenue along the Athens Riviera.
She reportedly had extensive burns all over her body.
The Fire Service investigates.
According to preliminary estimations, the woman fell asleep, while she was smoking sitting on the couch. Her clothes caught fire, media report.
The body of the British woman was taken to a nearby hospital where doctors could only confirm her death.
