A 43-year-old arsonist has been arrested for setting up two fires in open spaces in Keratea, eastern Attica, on Tuesday. The woman has been charged for the two fires and thus by repeated intent in the Municipality of Lavreotiki on Tuesday morning, June 23, 2026.
The arrest follows an investigation by the Arson Department of the Greek Fire Service (DAEE).
The woman has been found to have intentionally caused two fires in outdoor areas in the area, setting fires at 11:05 and 11:24 in the morning.
The two fires immediately mobilized the fire brigade, while the DAEE proceeded to investigate the incidents and identify the culprit. During the preliminary investigation, the 43-year-old confessed to setting both fires, fully confirming the findings of the DAEE investigation.
The 43-year-old was arrested on the evening of the same day, as part of the ongoing investigation, and a case was filed against her for repeated arson.
The DAEE points out that every arson incident is investigated immediately and in depth, utilizing all available investigative and technical means. Those who endanger human lives, property and the natural environment are identified, arrested and brought to justice, facing the sanctions provided for by law.
