Barometric low “Dido” is forecast to strike the largest parts of Greece with heavy rain- and snowfalls, powerful thunderstorms and stormy winds. The Greek National Meteorological Service (EMY) has issued a “red alert” on Monday warning of the upcoming intense weather phenomena. The weather warning is valid from Dec 9 until Dec 12, 2019.
The bad weather front will set in in the West and South parts of the country as of the evening hours of Monday, Dec 9, 2019.
On Tuesday and Wednesday, Dec 10-11, the weather phenomena will be heavy rainfalls and thunderstorms, heavy snowfalls in the mountainous areas and gale-force winds locally.
On Thursday, Dec 12, the phenomena will temporarily weaken. 12/12 the phenomena will be severely restricted and the weather in several areas will temporarily improve.

Throughout the country will be under the influence of Dido, significant amounts of rain are expected to cause problems in several regions of Greece.
Stormy winds will be blowing with intensity of up to 8 Beaufort in the East Aegean on from Tuesday night until Wednesday evening. there is possibility that intensity will reach up to 9 B in the North Aegean in the early morning hours of Wed.

As of the evening: islands of the East Aegean Sea and the Dodecanese.
The phenomena will weaken in West Greece3 as of Tuesday night.
Attica and Athens: Rain and storms locally very heavy from Tuesday morning until the early morning hours of Wednesday.
Wednesday, Dec 11
Heavy rainfalls and partly very heavy in East Sterea, Evia, West and Central Macedonia, Thessaly and Sporades.
The intense weather phenomena will be limited to Thessaly and Sporades in the early morning hours of Thursday.
Thursday, Dec 12
Rainfalls and thunderstorms in Cyclades islands, Crete, islands of the East Aegean and the Dodecanese.
Friday, Dec 13
Temporary weather improvement in some parts of Greece on Friday.
