Greek athletes say Good-Bye to Kobe Bryant on social media

The sudden death of NBA legend “Black Mamba” Kobe Bryant in a helicopter crash on Sunday shocked not only his family, his friends, colleagues and supporters in the US. The shock spread like a wildfire all over the world. The wave of  grief grabbed also Greek athletes who used the social media to say Good-Bye to the 41-year-old Bryant.

Among the Greeks mourners are basketball players like Vassilis Spanoulis and Nikos Zisis, basketball teams but also athletes that have nothing to do with the specific sports like Stefnaos Tsitispas.

they posted their mourning message in English and Greek.

“Greek Freak” Giannis Antetokoumpo reportedly deactivated his social media accounts on twitter and instagram as a sign of mourning.

Together with his 13-year-old daughter Gianna and another seven people including the pilot, Kobe Bryant found a tragic death on Sunday, when the Sikorsky helicopter crashed into the side of a mountain in Calabasas near Los Angeles. At the time there were rain and low foggy conditions in the area.

The group was travelling to Bryant’s Mamba Academy for a practice session. Among the passengers were also another young athlete, parents and a baseball coach.

US authorities investigate the circumstances of the accident.
