Greece’s National Meteorological Service EMY has issued a weather warning with its main features being heavy rainfalls and thunderstorms, possibly accompanied with hailstorms, powerful North winds and snowstorms in the mountainous and semi-mountainous regions.
According to the warning, the bad weather front will initially hit western and northern Greece on Friday afternoon, February 28, 2020, and will soon reach the islands of the East Aegean Sea.

Heavy rains and thunderstorms are expected early in the afternoon in the North Ionian Sea, Epirus and West Sterea. Later, North and East Aegean Sea, East Macedonia and Thrace. By night the Dodecanese.
Snowfalls locally dense in mountainous and semi-mountainous regions of Epirus, West Macedonia, later in the evening in Central and East Macedonia and Thrace.
Very strong winds up to 8 Beaufort in the Ionian and Aegean Sea, and locally up to 9 B in the latter.
Winds are forecast to gradually weaken as of the early morning hours of Saturday.
Mild winds on Sunday and Clean Monday, March 1 and 2, essential for the tradition of flying kites.
Slight temperature rise on Monday.
