Coronavirus has reached also the Dodecanese, after a nurse at the Health Center on the remotes island of Karpathos was tested positive.
“The first official case confirmed by the National Health Organization has been recorded on our island,” a statement issued by the management of the Health Center said on Thursday.
The patient has been in house isolation and is recovering at home since the first symptoms appeared.
The symptoms are mild and the state of health is constantly improving state of health.
The nurse did not travel outside Karpathos in recent times, media reported.
Health authorities have appealed to residents of the mainland to refrain from traveling to the islands where health care infrastructure can deal with victims of the pandemic.
Other confirmed cases on Greek islands are one on Lesvos and four on Crete.
According to latest official data on Thursday, the total number of confirmed cases has risen to 464 with 16 people intubated in hospitals in Athens, Patras and Thessaloniki.
Six patients have lost their lives to infection with the coronavirus. All of them were men with underlying health problems.
