Four more people died on Friday due to infection with the coronavirus with the death toll in Greece to rise to 10. Two of the victims were hospitalized in Athens, one in Kastoria and one in Patras. Three of the victims were men and one woman, all with serious health problems.
The latest victim is a 93-year-old woman hospitalized in the University hospital of Patras, although not in the Intensive Care Unit, as media report. She was suffering from diabetes and a respiratory problem, and had a pacemaker. She was infected with coronavirus and passed away on Friday evening. She is the second victime that dies in the Rio hospital.
The first man to die on Friday was an 87-year-old resident of Damaskinia, one of the two villages by Kastoria, that have been placed under quarantine since Monday (March 16). It is the fourth death in the broader Kastoria area, in northern Greece within a week.
He was hospitalized in the last four days. He reportedly had other serious health problems.
Serious health problems had also the 80-year-old patient of Pammakaristos hospital in Athens, who passed away Friday noon.
According to official data on Friday, of the 90 hospitalized patients across the country, 20 are intubated and all of them are men.
Majority of total 495 confirmed cases are in house isolation with mild symptoms. They are advised to contact the National Health Organization (EODY) if they would have fever or suffer form respiratory difficulties, state broadcaster ERT TV reported.
Hundreds are also in house isolation after they were tracked to have been in contact with confirmed coronavirus cases.
