Greece ‘s comparative position in the global ranking of Covid-19 cases and deaths is constantly declining – and therefore improving – both in absolute numbers and proportionally to the population as in cases and deaths er per million inhabitants.
Greece ranks 81th in terms of confirmed cases and 49th in terms of deaths.
According to estimated prediction, the peak of coronavirus in Greece is expected around April 20.

Data and predictions have been released by the Institute of Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) of the University of Washington in Seattle, one of the most important centers for the study and analysis of health statistics worldwide.
Confirmed cases
With 2,081 confirmed cases until April 11, Greece hold the 52nd position in the world in a total number of diagnosed cases, compared to the 43rd that was a week ago.
It ranks 17th in the European Union, as it was last Sunday.
With about 200 confirmed cases per one million population (compared to 161 last week), Greece has a low rate, ranking 81st in the world, compared to 75th last Sunday (April 5) and 66th on Sunday before (March 29).

The global average is 228 cases in population per million, so Greece is below the international average, while last week it was slightly above it.
Deaths
With 93 deaths (stand April 11) Greece ranks 39th in the world in the absolute number of victims of the disease, from 33rd a week ago and 28th two weeks ago. It is also 15th in the European Union (14th seven days ago).
In relation to its population, Greece has so far had about 9 deaths per million population (from seven last Sunday), which puts the country pn 49th place internationally (from 38th place seven days ago) and 18th in the European Union (from 17th).
The global average is about 14 deaths per million inhabitants. In this sense Greece is well below the international average.
Intubated and healed patients, tests
In addition, having 75 patients intubated in a serious-critical condition (compared to 92 seven days ago), Greece is now 38th in the world in the number of serious cases (it was 26th seven days ago and 20th 20th 14 days ago) and 16th in the European Union (from 13th last week).
The country ranks 48th in the world (compared to 57th seven days ago) in terms of the number of patients with Covid-19 who have fully recovered (269 so far), while it is 15th in the EU.
In terms of the number of tests that each country has conducted, with 37,344 tests Greece is in 53rd place in the world (from 50th last week).
With a ratio of 3,583 tests per million population, it ranks 66th internationally (from 57th).
Global data
The total number of confirmed cases on April 12 worldwide exceeded 1.78 million. The deaths exceeded 108,800, while almost 404,000 patients have fully recovered.
Countries with most confirmed case: The United States (532,879), Spain (163,027), Italy (152,271), France (129,654) and Germany (125,452)

Forecast for Greece
Day-to-day deaths in Greece will show a gradual – albeit not large in absolute numbers – increase, culminating on April 21, when 13 deaths are predicted.
Then there is a gradual decrease until the last week of May.
This is possible with the forecast model of the Institute of Health Metrics and Evaluation of the University of Washington in Seattle, one of the most important centers for the study and analysis of health statistics worldwide.
Based on the latest update with Greek data on April 10, the model predicts that by the end of May the total number of deaths will have reached 400.
The number 400 is considered an average prediction, with the range of possible value ranging from 264 to 635 victims.
April 20 is considered to be the most probable date that the hospitals of Greece will accept the culmination of their pressure from Covid-19 incidents.
It is expected that the peak will require up to 107 beds in intensive care units to treat patients with the disease and a total of 424 hospital beds for the least serious cases.
Based on this estimate, the Institute predicts that there will be no shortage of ICU beds in Greece.
