Death toll increased to 140 after a COVID-19 patient died in northern Greece on Thursday morning. The 74-year-old woman was in intensive care unit of the University Hospital of Alexandroupolis. she reportedly had underlying health issues.
Among the coronavirus-related dead were 103 men and 37 women.
The average age of the deceased was 74 years. 94% of them had underlying health issues.
According to official data on Wednesday evening, 10 new confirmed cases were recorded in the country the the past 24 hours, raising the number of total infections to 2,576. The previous day, 32 new coronavirus cases were confirmed.
Among the total people infected, 55.7% are men.
At the same time, 589 cases (23%) are considered to be related to travel from abroad and 1268 (49.2%) with already known cases.
41 patients are intubated in hospital ICUs. Their average age is 67.
A total of 71 patients have been discharged from the ICUs.
Of those treated, 88% have underlying disease or are over 70 years old.
A total of 72,130 tests have been conducted since the outbreak late February.
Greece is at the lower bottom of european countries that conducted COVID-19 tests in relation to 1 million inhabitants.

Officials do not give estimations about the real spread of the virus in the general population.
Greece is preparing to gradual lift the lockdown restrictions on May 4, 2020, a process expected to last 45 days.
