Greece re-opens its borders to 29 countries on June 15 (LIST)

Greece announced early afternoon Friday, May 29, the list of 29 countries from which it will accept tourists as of June 15, 2020, when it opens its borders again. According to a statement by the Greek Tourism Ministry, borders will be “open” from June 15, with flights permitted to land in Athens and Thessaloniki.

Among the countries are Greece’s neighbors in the North, some countries in the East Mediterranean Sea, Scandinavian and Central European countries as well as some in the Far East and Australia.

These countries are:

Albania, Australia, Austria, North Macedonia, Bulgaria, Germany, Denmark, Switzerland, Estonia, Japan, Israel, China, Croatia, Cyprus, Latvia, Lebanon, Lithuania Malta, Montenegro, New Zealand, Norway, South Korea, Hungary, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Czech Republic, Finland.

Sample testing will be carried out on some visitors from these 29 countries in Greece.

The list of 29 countries was drawn up after a study of the epidemiological profile of the countries of origin of tourists and after taking into account Thursday’s announcements of the European Air Safety Agency (EASA), as well as the relevant proposal of the Infectious Disease Committee.

The existing rules – ban – continue to apply for all other countries.

The list will be expanded starting on July 1 and the new added countries will be announced in time.

“In any case, the epidemiological monitoring and evaluation of the other countries will be continuous,” the statement said.

According to state broadcaster ERT TV, it is still to be clarified whether the list refers only to countries or to nationalities as well.

  1. Why in the name of God would you open anything to China o all places that started this Filthy Virus you are cuttng you own throats and why is Sweden banned7

    • Not sure what God has to do with it. This is quite a US Republican view, I wonder if that is your leaning?
Admission to Greece is based on infection incidence not on where it started or who MIGHT be to blame.
It might be a while before the US is admitted.

      • The problem is you cannot believe any statistics emerging from China. They have repeatedly lied about the actual origin of the virus; the date the first infections were detected; the actual rate of infection and the actual death toll which is believed by western intelligence to be over 10 times the official Chinese figure.

    • I was thinking the same thing! Madness!

    • Anne Cathrine Mastoris

Because Sweden is the country in the whole world with largest number of deaths pr 100.000. They never had a lock down and people still die in high numbers daily.
China was the origin, but has had no new infected persons for a long time.
      Read the news.

      • Yes but the world needs to punish them … stop them eating anything with a pulse .. until that happens keep them in their own country

  2. This doesn’t explain whether or not the borders are re-opened for Greek citizens or residents coming in from other countries. For example, I am a Greek resident but trying to return from the UK (Driving via Italy and getting the ferry from there)

It would be good to know more about the road borders for residents as well as tourism

  3. Thank you Greece for the blacklist is so nice of you i dont
