One third of Greeks are not worried about the pandemic, survey finds

One third of the Greeks are not concerned about the risks posed by the pandemic and 2 in 10 believe that restrictions imposed by the government were too strict.

As the government prepares for the next phase of easing the restrictions imposed in March to curb the spread of the coronavirus, a new survey has shown that more than a third of Greeks claim not to be concerned about the risks posed by the pandemic, while two in 10 believe that the restrictions imposed by the government were too strict.

According to a survey conducted by ALCO on behalf of the Medical Association of Athens: between May 11 and 18,

36% of respondents said they were “not worried” about the pandemic, while 43% said they were “quite worried” and 21% said that they were “very worried”

7 in 10 said they believed the government’s measures were correct. 22% of the respondents said the measures were too restrictive.

The survey was conducted between May 11 and 18, the second week after Greece lifting the movement restrictions imposed on March 23.

Greece is preparing to lift more restrictions as of June 6  as it proceeds with phase 6th and 7th of lockdown lifting. By July 1, 97% of the country’s businesses will have return to operation again.
