SYRIZA accuses Gov’t of opening tourism “hasty and without a plan”

Main opposition party, left-wing SYRIZA accused the conservative government of New Democracy of having opened the borders to tourism much too early, hasty and without a plan.

SYRIZA spokesperson Alexis Charitsis said on Tuesday that the country is experiencing the repercussions of the pandemic as the “government has put the country in recession from the end of 2019.”

Eh added that the government did not proceed with a frontloaded support of the economy in the period of the pandemic as well as of middle classes as SYRIZA has asked with its programme.

He said that a very large deficit has been created in the state coffers and that thousands of Greeks are facing a problem of survival.

Referring to the opening of tourism, he described it as “hasty and without a plan” and wished it would not cost to the country in terms of health.

In addition, Charitsis accused the government of not shielding the national health system.
