Monument dedicated to …”Greeks who resisted the Prespes Agreement”

A group calling themselves “Macedonians Draminoi”erected a monument dedicated to “Greek citizens who resisted the signing of the Prespes Agreement.”

The monument has been erected in the village of Pisoderi, near Florina, in western Maedonia, near the Greece-North Macedonia border with the blessing of local authorities.

The plaque reads: “In this village Greek resisted to the signing of the Prespes Agreement on 17. June 2018. We tear apart the Prespes Agreement.”

On its back side of the marble monument, the names of the sponsors have been engraved. Some are from the area, Florina, others from Drama – therefore ‘Draminoi’- and Kavala in eastern Macedonia and some from USA, Australia and Canada.

According to local kozanimedia, the monument is not illegal as it brings the blessing by both the Municiplaity of Prespas and the chairman of the community of Pisoderi.

Mayor Panagiotis Paschalidis has reportedly stated that that “as the chairman agreed we also gave permission to it.”

Describing the monument as “truly incredible and unprecedented move,” kozamimedia notes that the local MP from ruling New Democracy as well as the deputy Reigonal governor stated they had no idea about the monument.

PS I never knew there was a battle of Prespes worth to remember it with a monument. Nationalism has no borders but it surely has money…
