Greece’s Education Ministry announced that the new school year 2020-2021 will begin on Monday, September 7. This is four days earlier than usual. The direction applies to all levels of education.
The earlier start has been decided so that pupils and students will have some more days for repetitions and fill any gaps that have arisen due to a 3-month suspension of operation because of the pandemic.
According to state broadcaster ERT, it is still unclear when the all-day schools will operate, though.
Does this mean that three months work can be covered in a four day earlier start to the term? Very strange logic.
It suggests that the entire staff of the Education Ministry must have flunked their arithmetic and mathematics exams. Perhaps they can explain their logic using Ancient Greek and Latin.
