A big forest fire is raging in the Kampos area on the island of Chios on Wednesday and the powerful winds are pushing the fire fronts towards two villages.
The Fire Service ordered the residents of Tholopotami and Sklavia to evacuate as the danger was imminent.
More than 30 firefighters with 9 fire trucks as well as also police and army units are struggling against the blaze that broke out in a forest in Vavylous around 10 o’ clock in the morning and quickly spread due to the wind.
The area is near the refugees and migrants accommodation camp VIAL
Two firefighting helicopters and two Canadair aircraft were deployed in the battle to extinguish the fire in the area Vavylous.
Locals told local media astraparis that the fire had extended to three fronts.
