The building housing the ministries of Finance and of Investment & Development was evacuated on Thursday in order to be disinfected from a possible coronavirus contamination. the evacuation came after a foreign investor who visited the building on Wednesday was confirmed positive to Covid-19.
The building is located on Nikis Street close to Syntagma Square in downtown Athens was evacuated on Thursday,
Three government ministers, including Development and Investments Minister Adonis Georgiadis, Deputy Development Minister Nikos Papathanassis and Shipping Minister Giannis Plakiotakis are self-isolating as a precaution following their meetings with foreign investors, one of whom was later diagnosed with Covid-19.
The Covid-19 patient reportedly visited only the Development Ministry and did not have any contacts to the Finance Ministry including the minister.
The services of the ministries will resume their operation next Monday, September 7, 2020.
