Greece records 156 coronavirus cases, 5 more deaths in the last 24 hours

Greece recorded 156 new confirmed coronavirus cases and 5 more deaths in the last 24 hours, health authorities announced on Monday evening. Total cases have reached 11,663 and deaths 289.

Of the 5 latest fatalities, a 51-year-old woman and two men aged 83 and 74 died in just a few hours on Monday.

Over the weekend a 47-year-old man infected with Covid-19 passed away. He had no underlying health problems.

Of the new cases in the last 24 hours,  14 were detected among tourists: 13 at the entrance gates and 1 to people already in the country.

There have been 1,066 infections in 5 days and 10 deaths in the time Sept 4-7.

According to the official daily bulletin on Monday, 2258 (19.4%) of the total cases are related to travel abroad and 5065(43.4%) are related to already known infection case.

55.8% of the infected are men.

The number of intubated patients in ICUs is 42 from 41 yesterday. Their average age is 69, among them are 10 women. 90.5% have underlying health problems or are aged over 70.

160 people have been discharged from ICUs since the start of the pandemic in Greece. Odd There were 161 yesterday.

Five more deaths and death toll increased to 289.  Of the deceased 107 were women. The average age of the deceased was 78 and 96.2% of the deceased had an underlying condition or/and was over 70 years old.

Rolling weekly average cases at 196 from 215 last week. Below 200 was also before August 15.

Total tests since begin of outbreak are 1,037,836.

Tests in the last 24 hours: 10,218 with 1.53% of them positive.

Daily growth at +1.4%

Of the 156 new coronavirus cases, 141 are domestic, of them 12 are linked to recent travel within the country and 19 to known clusters.

13 of the new cases were detected at entry points  -and another 1 traveler sought laboratories after they developed symptoms.

The remaining cases are:

101 in Attica

3 in Thessaloniki

7 Viotia

Each 5 Lesvos, Imathia
4 Heraklio
Each 3 in Trikala, Kozani
2 in Aitoloakarnania
Each 1 in Fthiotida, Serres, Mykonos*, Messinia, Ioannina, Thesprotia, Evritania, Grevena.
* it is the first time authorities refer to a specific island of the Cyclades.

9 residents at the Moria refugees and migrants camp were tested positive.

  1. And yet here in Heraklion perfecture including Stalis where we live very few people obeying the mandatory wearing of masks outdoors or respecting social distancing measures.
