Greece records 207 new coronavirus cases, 3 more deaths in past 24 hours

Health authorities announced on Sunday evening that Greece recorded 207 new coronavirus cases and three more deaths in the past 24 hours.

The total infections have reached 13,240 and death toll stands at 305.

According to the health authorities, 29 of the new cases were detected at the country’s entry points and 23 are linked to known clusters.

For the period of a month, daily infections are at an average of 220-220 cases, while the number of intubated patients doubled:

According to the official daily bulletin on Sunday, 2394 (18.1%) of the total cases are related to travel abroad and 5710(43.1%) are related to already known infection case.

55.5% of the infected are men.

The number of intubated patients in ICUs increased to 54 from 53 on Saturday and from 42 on Tuesday. Their average age is 70, among them are 12 women. 88.9% have underlying health problems or are aged over 70.

171 people have been discharged from ICUs since the start of the pandemic in Greece.

Three more deaths in the last 24 hours increased death toll to 305.  Of the deceased 112 were women. The average age of the deceased was 78 and 96.4% of the deceased had an underlying condition or/and was over 70 years old.

Rolling weekly average cases at 240 from 201 last week. Below 200 was also before August 15.

Total tests since begin of outbreak are 1,125,882.

Tests in the last 24 hours: 12,890 with 1.61% of them positive.

Daily growth at +1.6%

Of the 207 new coronavirus cases, 177 are domestic: of them more than half are detected in Attica.

29 of the new cases were detected at entry points; another 1 traveler already in the country sought laboratories after they developed symptoms.

Each 5 in Pella, Kozani

 3 in Larissa

Each 2 in Fthiotida, Pieria, Lesvos, Kavala, Ioannina, Viotia

Each 1 in Evia, Trikala, Magnisia, Corfu, Thira, Imathia, Evros, Argolida, Xanthi

Seven refugees were tested positive to coronavirus in Kara Tepe camp on Lesvos. They underwent Rapid Tests before entering in the provisional tent camp set on Saturday. Rapid tests bring the results after 15 minutes.

Generally, over the weekend less test are carried out or authorities have not collected all data including from private laboratories.
