The Greek Civil Protection has issued an issued an emergency announcement ahead of extreme weather phenomena forecast as of Monday afternoon. The Civil Protection calls the citizens of several regions to be specially careful and to follow basic instructions.
The warning addresses citizens of:
Attica, Macedonia, Thrace, the Ionian islands, Epirus, West and East Sterea, West and East Peloponnese, Thessaly, the Cyclades islands, Crete, the Eastern Aegean islands and the Dodecanese.
The emergency announcement warns citizens to:
– Avoid any unnecessary movement during severe weather conditions and secure their doors and windows tightly, always keeping in mind in case of torrents establishment to move to the highest points of the house.
– Do not cross torrents, streams or flooded roads for any reason, on foot or by vehicle, if found in such a location. For no reason.
In addition, citizens are invited, in any case, to follow the relevant announcements in the media and to follow the instructions of the authorities.

The Civil Protection recalls the meteorologists’ forecast of dangerous weather phenomena with heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, local hail-fall and stormy south winds reaching up to 7-8 or even locally up to 9 Beaufort.
The weather warning issued by the National Meteorological Services is valid from Monday afternoon, October 12, until Tuesday afternoon, October 13, 2020.
