Greece’s health authorities announced on Monday evening, 85 deaths in past 24 hours, 1044 new coronavirus and 600 Covid-19 patients intubated in hospital ICUs.
However, the low number of new infections has much to do with a ridiculous low number of tests, just 7.203 on Sunday, when the weekday average was 21,000 last week and 24,000 the week before.
Positivity of the 7,203 tests was as high as 14.49%!

At the same time, the number of intubations remain high and so does the number of daily fatalities.
Death toll has reached 2,406 and the total cases 105,271.
In November alone, 1,780 Covid-patients lost their life, while the infections reach 66,020.

Live briefing
In the live briefing on Monday, authorities attributed the low number of the daily infections to the lockdown measures.
Professor for Children Epidemiology Vana Papaevangelou said that “we finally have a decrease of infections, while the positivity rate has decreased as well, while the Transmission Rate (Rt) is below 1 in all regional units of the country.
Health Ministry spokesman Gkikas Majiorkinis said that infections all through the week decreased in Attica by 30% and in Thessaloniki by 20%.
However, he noted that the pressure on the health system is expected to significantly decrease by the end of this week or beginning of the following one.
Head of Civil Protection Nikos Hardalias said that the regions with high epidemiological load are:
- Pella, Drama, Grevena, Thessaloniki, Pieria, Florina, Imathia, Larissa, Kilkis, Xanthi, Halkidiki, Magnisia, KArditsa, KAvala, Trikala, Evros, Serres, Rodopi.
