Greece’s health authorities announced on Thursday, 100 more deaths in past 24 hours and 1,882 new coronavirus cases. The number of intubated Covid-19 patients has hit a new record and rose to 622.
Death toll has reached 2,706 and the total cases stand at 111,537.
The number of the daily infections appeared lower again, however, one should note that the daily tests have slowly but gradually decreased, from an average of 24,000 still ten days ago, to 18,000-19,000 in the last few days. Test positivity remains at 10% on the average, though, and when a ‘good’ number is below 2%.
Again Thessaloniki leads in daily infections with little below 500, despite the fact that the city and the broader regional unit are in lockdown since exactly one month.
300 news graves are reportedly freshly opened in one of the cemeteries of the city, home of over one million people.
For the victims of the pandemic the graves are as simple as possible, just a marble cross, no marble tombstone.
As the epidemiological load remains high, the government extended the nationawide lockdown until December 14. Exceptionally only seasonal stores selling Christmas items will be open on Dec 7.
