The vaccination of the general population against the coronavirus will begin on January 20, said Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis during a meeting he chaired at the headquarters of the Civil Protection Secretariat on Tuesday evening. The vaccination of the general population will start with those aged over 85.
The online platform for the electronic booking of inoculation appointments will open to public access on January 11, he added.
He underlined that it is “imperative for all citizens to register for paperless electronic prescriptions, as this will allow them to receive electronic notifications for their appointments.”
Some 5,000 citizens are currently being vaccinated every day, he noted adding that “ff this is kept up” it will help ensure that the scheduling of vaccinations is met successfully.”
Until Tuesday evening some 16,365 people had been vaccinated, while the current reserve of coronavirus vaccinations numbers 150,850 doses.
PS my cat is trying to do the math: by 5000 vaccinations per day, how many days are needed to inoculate 60%-70% of the 10,000,000 population to achieve heard immunity in the country? She is still counting… and yet she forgot that vaccination is needed in 2 doses.
We are English ex pat, have permanent residence, are we included.
So in this “fantastic”speed of 5000 a day (keep up the good work) we will reach the 60% in 6,5 years …. Wonderful !

Hear me out and remember this; the vaccination of even 50 percent of the population for this messy government takes at least more than one year!
Are they going to start counting down, 84, 83, etc? If only half of the Greek population agrees to take the first
dose it will take approximately 1000 days.
