Greece: 47 deaths in 24 hours, 510 new coronavirus cases with fewer tests

Greece’s health authorities announced on Thursday, 510 new coronavirus cases and another 47 deaths in the last 24 hours. The number of Covid-19 patients intubated in hospitals across the country stands at 391.

Death toll has reached 5,146 and the total cases stand at 142,777.

Note that again PCR and Rapid tests were significantly decreased in the last 24 hours due to the Epiphany holiday. there has been a general testing decrease in the last 12 festive days, Dec 24, 2020 – Jan 6 2021 so that there can hardly be a clear current picture of the course of the pandemic in the country.

According to the official daily bulletin on Thursday, 5565(3.9%) of the total coronavirus cases are related to travel abroad and 42934 (30.1%) are related to already known infection case.

The remaining infections are without known source.

52.3% of the infected are men.

The number of intubated patients in ICUs stands at 391 from 399 a day earlier. Their average age is 68, among them are 266 (68%) men. 85.2% have underlying health problems or are aged over 70.

911 people ( 912 on Jan 6!!!) have been discharged from ICUs since the start of the pandemic in Greece.

Another 47 deaths in the last 24 hours increased death toll to 5146. Of the deceased 3041 (59.1%) were men. The average age of the deceased was 79 and 95.5% of the deceased had an underlying condition or/and was over 70 years old.

Rolling weekly average cases at 627 from 651 last week.

Total tests since begin of the outbreak are 2859041 PCR and 644649 Rapid Ag tests

Rapid tests last 24 hours: 3,815

Positivity PCR+Rapid tests: 5.86%

Of the 510 new coronavirus cases, 16 were detected at the country’s entry points.

16 of the new cases were detected at entry points, 2 more travelers were already in the country.
