A 27-year-old man was hit and injured by an avalanche and in addition was fined with 300 euros and arrested for illegally skiing at a ski resort closed due to lockdown restrictions in Greece.
Together with three friends the young man climbed in Vasilitsa by Grevena in western Macedonia on Sunday for their favorite hobby. They ignored the fact that the ski resort is closed due to the lockdown. they even managed to escape the attention of the security guard there and reach the top of the mountain.
On the way down, an avalanche detached from the tons of snow, swept away the young man who was injured.
His friends called the emergency service and the injured was taken to the hospital of Florina where he remains hospitalized until today, Monday.
However, the issue did not end there.
Local police arrested the 3 skiers and place also the injured man under arrest and furthermore imposed fines of 300 euros to each one for “unnecessary movement” regarding sports activity (SMS 6), that is skiing.
According to kozanimedia, the four men are living in different areas in the region and had rented a house in a village in the mountains of Grevena over the weekend. From there, they would take their ski trips outside the boundaries of the ski center of Vasilitsa.
It is unclear whether they also violated the ban to travel to different regional unit form their permanent residence..
The injured young man is a permanent resident of Thessaloniki, local media reported.
In the same spot a skier reportedly lost his life a year ago.

Sounds to me like he’s the sort of bloke who, if he didn’t have bad luck, he’d have no luck at all.!!!!!
