Halkidiki, Lassithi, Zakynthos placed in tougher lockdown regime

The Greek Civil Protection placed the regional units of Halkidiki, Lassithi and Zakynthos in regime of tougher lockdown due to high epidemiological load. In a statement issued on Sunday, the Civil protection said that the new regime goes into forces from 06:00 a.m. Monday, February 1, 2021.

The measures that include extended curfew and shopping restrictions were taken at an extraordinary meeting of authorities on Sunday.

In addition to the “horizontal” lockdown restrictions and protection measures that apply throughout the Greek territory, in the areas marked as “red” (Level B) there are:

· Curfew from 18:00 to 05:00

· Pperation of Gymnasiums from 01/02/2021

· Distance education for Lyceums

· Places of Worship: Performing services with a maximum of 9 people

· Retail operation with the click away method and operation of clothing stores, footwear, bookstores, hairdressers and personal care stores with a predetermined appointment (click-in-a-shop) and with the presence of 1 person per 25 sq.m.

· Shops are closed on Sundays

The Civil Protection statement did not mention until when the additional lockdown measures are in force.

On Friday, authorities warned residents of Halkidiki in northern Greece, Lassithi in eastern Crete and Zakynthos in the Ionian Sea.

On Saturday, authorities spoke of an outbreak in the Municipality of Agios Nikolaos, Lassithi, with at least 50 infection cases.
