Greece’s health authorities announced on Thursday 1400 new coronavirus cases and another 27 deaths in the last 24 hours. The number of Covid-19 patients intubated in hospitals across the country has increased to 320.
Death toll has reached 6,221 and the total cases stand at 176,059.

454 samples were examined Jan 7 – Feb 9 , 2021. Samples came from the regional units of West and Central Macedonia, Crete, Attica, Ioannina, Thasos, Thesprotia, Lefkada, Corfu, Aitoloakarnania and Viotia.
Variants of concern: confirmed 281. Of them:
- 269 positive to B.1.1.7/UK Lineage (VariantVOC_202012)
- 8 positive to B.1.351 South Africa Lineage (Variant501V2)

According to the official bulletin on Thursday, based on the confirmed cases on the last 7 days, 50 are related to travel abroad and 1497 are related to already known cases.
The released data do not allow any more the clues about the rate of infections without known source of contamination.
51.8% of the infected are men.
The number of intubated patients in ICUs stands at 320 from 313 a day earlier. Their average age is 70, among them 69.1% are men. 88.4% have underlying health problems and/or are aged over 70.
New admission of Covid-19 patients to hospitals are 181 (daily change -14.22%). Average number of admission in 7 days: 215.
Average age of infected is 44 ( age range 0.2-105).
1256 people have been discharged from ICUs since the start of the pandemic in Greece.
Another 27 deaths in the last 24 hours increased death toll to 6221. The average age of the deceased was 79 (age range 16-103). and 95.6% had underlying health problem and/or was over 70 years old.
