Greece’s health authorities announced on Tuesday, 1533 new coronavirus cases with much fewer PCR and Rapid tests due to the Clean Monday holiday. 59 more Covid-patients died in the last 24 hours. The number of intubations has further increased to 605, that is 41 more than on Monday.
Death toll has reached 7,196. Total confirmed infections since the begin of the pandemic a year ago: 223,789.
Pressure on the public hospitals remains high and capacity of ICU Covid-beds in Attica is over 95%.
AstraZeneca
With an unanimous decision on Tuesday, Greece’s National Vaccination Committee recommended that the use of AstraZeneca vaccine in the country will continue according to schedule, despite the temporary suspension by several EU countries.
Health authorities said that 13% of scheduled appointments on Monday did not take place as some citizens had concerned about the AstraZeneca vaccine.

According to the official bulletin on Sunday, based on the confirmed cases on the last 7 days, 72 are related to travel abroad and 1916 are related to already known cases.
The released data do not allow any more the clues about the rate of infections without known source of contamination.
51.6% of the infected are men.
The number of intubated coroinavirus patients in ICUs stands at 605 from 564 a day earlier. Their average age is 68, among them 68.1% are men. 82.1% have underlying health problems and/or are aged over 70.
New admissions of Covid-19 patients to hospitals are 446 (daily change -3.25%). Average number of hospital admissions in 7 days: 455.
Average age of infected is 44 ( age range 0.2-105).
1505 people have been discharged from ICUs since the start of the pandemic in Greece.
Another 59 deaths in the last 24 hours increased death toll to 7,196. The average age of the deceased was 79 (age range 16-103). and 95.7% had underlying health problem and/or was over 70 years old.
