Greece’s health authorities announced on Μonday, 362 new coronavirus cases and 8 Covid-related deaths in the last 24 hours. The number of intubated Covid-patients in hospitals Intensive Care Units stands at 215.
It should be recalled that the night curfew is being abandoned as of today, Monday, June 28, 2021. The end of curfew, the not wearing of masks outdoors and the easing of some restrictions was announced last week.
Live Briefing
At the live briefing on Monday, head of the National Vaccination Committee Maria Theodoridou warned of the Delta variant of Covid-19. She underlined that its transmissibility is 50%-70%.
She stressed that most affected by the variant expected to be the prevailing one by August are the following groups: those not vaccinated, those with immunity compromised health and children. For the latter, there is no provision for anti-covid vaccination, so far.
General Secretary for Primary Health Care, Marios Themistokleous announced that vaccination at home will start in the next days. Private doctors will also carried out the vaccinations either in their offices or at home without payment by the vaccinated person.
The single-dose vaccine Johnson&Johnson will be administered for bed-ridden citizens or those with other chronic problems like Alzheimer’s.
On Monday, morning, the Prime Minister announced an incentive of 150 euros in form of prepaid card for young people aged 18-25 so that they can get vaccinated.

There are 8 deaths recorded in the last 24 hours, the total of pandemic victims to 12,682. Of these, 95.5% had an underlying condition and/or were 70 years old.
A total of 215 Covid-patients are on ventilators in hospitals. Their median age is 67 years. 66.5% are men. 83.7% have an underlying condition and/or are aged 70 or more.
2,659 patients have been discharged from ICUs since the pandemic began.
39 Covid-19 patients were admitted to hospital in the last 24 hours (daily change: +2.63%). The average admission of patients with Covid-19 to hospitals over the last 7 days was 50.
The median age of new infections is 43 years (range: 0.2 to 106 years), while the median age of the deceased is 78 (range: 0.2 to 106 years).
