Temporary custody of baby Lydia goes exclusively to Caroline’s mother

The Juvenile Prosecutor’s Office decided on Monday to give the temporary custody of baby Lydia exclusively to slain Caroline’s mother on the island of Alonisos. The husband’s and murderer’s parents will have the right to visit the baby 5 times per month from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. only on the island.

The Prosecutor withdrew the parental custody from Babis Anagnostopoulos, 32, who is in jail since June 22 pending trial.

The decision is valid until a Juvenile Court rules for the permanent custody of the 11-month-old Lydia and the period is reportedly “90 days” and/or extension of another 90 days.

“Weighing all the parameters and guided by the best interests of the child, his protection and his normal development, the Juvenile Prosecutor accepted the request by Caroline’s mother for the exclusive custody of Lydia, who, according to the social workers’ report ‘even though she is a newborn, she can have memorized the scenes of violence,'” the Prosecutor’s office said.

After having suffocated to death 20-year-old Caroline Crouch, the murderer placed the baby next to the dead mother’s body in order to be able to stage the botched burglary scenery without being bothered by his little daughter or having to take care of it.

Since the day of her mother’s murder on May 11, Lydia has been initially in the care of her father and of his parents since June 17 when police arrested him and he confessed to the murder of his wife.

His parents had also requested Lydia’s custody, however, shared with the grandparents on Alonisos. According to their request, Lydia should be 6 months with them and 6 with the grandparents on the island. They can appeal the prosecutor’s decision within 30 days.

While police still investigates the motive for Caroline’s heinous murder, her family’s lawyer revealed on Sunday that Anagnostopoulos demanded that Caroline’s mother pays for her daughter’s coffin which she did.

“I am stunned and you’ll be too,” the lawyer told reporters.

Dear God,dont we all pray that the courts will give custody to the parents of the murdered woman and shame on the murderers parents for contesting what is only humanly their right so as to somehow have something to live for.

  2. `How can it be right to have the parents of the man who callously murdered the Childs mother visiting the murdered wife’s parents to see the child. Just imagine the horror of that, how can the parents get closure on this most traumatic murder of their daughter. Cruel beyond belief!
