Greece’s health experts used tough language at the live briefing on Monday and called doctors who incite and advise citizens against the vaccination against Covid-19 “charlatans.”
General Secretary of Primary Health Care, Marios Themistokleous, described the doctors participating in the anti-vaccination movement as “charlatans” and called on the bodies in charge to implement the legislation and even punish them if necessary.
“This is not a matter of freedom, nor of democracy … Someone who is a health professional is a scientist, he is obliged, based on medical ethics and the legislation of the Greek Republic and any favored country in the world, to follow various rules,” Themistocleous and called these doctors “charlatans.”
Without naming them, the Secretary was referring to some medical doctors who play a leading role in the protests against the Covid-vaccinations and also some who advise their patients seeking advise to refrain from receiving a jab.
“The different point of view in a scientific field that is not political, has no basis, no democratic right or freedom of expression. It is the duty of the coordinated bodies of the state, whether they are public administration or medical associations, to silence, marginalize and punish these doctors,” Themistokleous added.
“Everyone can practice medicine as they please. This is part of someone who is a charlatan and it is the responsibility of the authorities to enforce the law,” he added.
A few minutes earlier, the chairwoman of the National Vaccinations Committee, Professor Maria Theodoridou, had said on anti-vaxxers holding protest rallies across the country without any protection measures “they have no ears to listen. This is a fact. And many are trying to convince those are in favor of vaccination. ”
She added “I think we have given them a lot of space. I think some people will understand how wrong it was when they were in the hospital.”
Right! My GP ran serology test, he found high level of antibodies. I had corona virus recently, but did not notice. In this situation he does not recommend vaccination. It could trigger serious allergic reaction. I have to wait couple of months!
I am not sure he is a charlatan. But he knows my situation much better!

I think this guy was very clear. My doctor was also clear. Some “neurosurgeon” who knows zero about my medical condition has no right to talk into it.

It is standard medical practise to still vaccinate people who have had COVID and recovered BUT with an interval of several months between contracting the disease and receiving the vaccine. To the best of my knowledge every vaccination centre is using this protocol.
Similarly if someone has had the flu vaccine they wait at least a month. When I went for my vaccination, at a centre where they had no knowledge of my health record, I was asked about 20 medical screening questions before they administered the vaccine. They also checked blood pressure, body temperature, 3 times, and blood oxygen level. A friend who had an allergic reaction to the first dose was monitored for 90 minutes instead of the usual 15 when she received the second dose.
The anti-vax people are making statements that are demonstrably untrue if you just bother to check the data. Those are the charlatans. Strangely they are pretty much the same arguments used by anti-vax campaigners 225 years ago when Jenner first started vaccinating people with Cowpox to stop them getting Smallpox. Imagine if the anti-vax campaigners had been successful and Smallpox was till around today. 15 million cases per year worldwide. A 30 % case fatality rate. Masses more left blind or scarred for life. anti-vax campaigners are the epitome of pure evil intent on spreading death and destruction.
Yeah, that’s what we’ve been hearing all year: “if you don’t trust the experts you’re a moron, but you have to trust OUR hand picked experts only, every other expert is a moron too”
It’s interesting how they are now suddenly concerned about “medical ethics” in this country.
How quickly we forget the scourge of smallpox. The disease no longer exists outside of two carefully regulated labs and nobody ever dies of smallpox today. Over 30% of people who caught smallpox died, that’s far higher than the death rate from COVID-19. Yet the last person to die of smallpox was over 40 years ago back in 1978.
Do you know how the world rid itself of the horrors of smallpox? That’s right, mass vaccination. It worked for smallpox and it can work for COVID-19 too. Wake up and smell the coffee….

mass vaccination, right. less than 15 % of world population vaccinated by now. developing countries are obviously not worth mentioning as the virus and mutations will a stay in poor countries. we better keep on discussing luxury first world problems in a PANdemic 🤦
Dear administrator of this news blog. Why are you such a coward, not publishing comments on this website which are critical about developments in Greece (and the rest of the world) and go against the mainstream? Is it out of fear for repercussions from the Greek government? Or do you worry that your sponsors and advertisers might withdraw their financial support? Or perhaps you just want to be a platform for pitiful readers who use your blog to express their anger for not getting their AMKA number?
I always thought that you were a little bit more independent compared to other news outlets, and sometimes even a bit naughty and recalcitrant, but in the past few weeks it became perfectly clear to me that when it comes to the discussion about the pandemic, you walk on the same conservative (read: economic) leash as all other mainstream news media in Greece, without questioning the hidden agenda of failing governments, moneygrubbing pharma industries and other ruthless multinationals who only care about their own pockets and position of power.
Anyway, whatever I write here now, I am pretty sure that you won’t change your attitude and give everyone a voice on your blog, whatever opinion they may have, even if those opinions are eye-opening or not ‘convenient’. But you won’t have to worry about my comments anymore, because I won’t visit your blog again. “Good riddance” I can hear you say. Well, let’s wait and see for a short while, because the very near future will show you and everyone else on this globe what the real problem is that threatens the existence of all living beings on the planet: compared to that, the current pandemic is just peanuts…. And you cannot blame me then for not sharing that information with your readers in the comment which you did not dare to publish.
we’ve been reading the same comments over and over again – and over and over again – posted by certain commentators under every post that has to do with the pandemic. often these comments contain links or names of scientists or whatever/s that we have neither time nor resources to check.
Not posting them is the only solution to keep us sane.
You could have removed that link in my comment, but that is not the real reason you didn’t publish it. Try starting to show your true colours: your readers will appreciate that and it might help people to live in a better and more honest world, for the time that is left to us….
right, now we will do ‘edit’ on people’s comments too (lol). If you want to inform people about the ‘truth’ start a blog yourself and spread the word. Please.
