Greece: 2760 coronavirus cases, 17 deaths, intubations rise to 172; geo distribution

Greece’s health authorities announced on Saturday, 2,760 new coronavirus cases and 17 Covid-related deaths in the past 24 hours. The number of intubated Covid-patients in hospitals Intensive Care Units increased further to 172.

253 Covid-patients lost their lives in the month of July, an average of 8 people per day.

Since the pandemic began, Greece has confirmed 493,304 infections (daily change: +0.6%). In the confirmed cases of the last 7 days, 138 infections are related to travel abroad and 1865 to other confirmed cases.

51.2% of the infected are men.

There are 17 deaths recorded in the last 24 hours, the total of pandemic victims to 12,965.  Of these, 95.1% had an underlying condition and/or were 70 years old.

A total of 172 Covid-patients – from 165 a day earlier – are on ventilators in hospitals. Their median age is 65 years. 64% are men. 82.6% have an underlying condition and/or are aged 70 or more.

According to EODY, intubated Covid-patients based on age group are:

  • 18-39: 10
  • 40-64: 73
  • 65+  :  89

2,808 patients have been discharged from ICUs since the pandemic began.

151 Covid-19 patients were admitted to hospital in the last 24 hours (daily change: -27.05%). The average admission of patients with Covid-19 to hospitals over the last 7 days was 172.

The median age of new infections is 41 years (range: 0.2 to 106 years), while the median age of the deceased is 78 (range: 0.2 to 106 years).
