Greece: 2,156 coronavirus cases, 8 deaths, 188 intubations; geo distribution

Greece’s health authorities announced on Monday 2,156 new coronavirus cases and 8 Covid-related deaths in the past 24 hours. The number of intubated Covid-patients in hospitals Intensive Care Units increased further to 188, twelve more than a day earlier.

Note that due to weekend, PCR and Rapid test are several thousands fewer than during the weekdays.

Since the pandemic began, Greece has confirmed 497,061 infections (daily change: +0.4%). In the confirmed cases of the last 7 days, 155 infections are related to travel abroad and 1687 to other confirmed cases.

51.2% of the infected are men.

There are 8 deaths recorded in the last 24 hours, the total of pandemic victims to 12,983.  Of these, 95.1% had an underlying condition and/or were 70 years old.

A total of 188 Covid-patients – from 176 a day earlier – are on ventilators in hospitals. Their median age is 65 years. 64.9% are men. 80.90% have an underlying condition and/or are aged 70 or more.

According to EODY, intubated Covid-patients based on age group are:

  • 18-39: 11
  • 40-64: 83
  • 65+  :  94

2,815 patients have been discharged from ICUs since the pandemic began.

167 Covid-19 patients were admitted to hospital in the last 24 hours (daily change: +2.45%). The average admission of patients with Covid-19 to hospitals over the last 7 days was 173.

The median age of new infections is 41 years (range: 0.2 to 106 years), while the median age of the deceased is 78 (range: 0.2 to 106 years).
