Greece: 3,442 coronavirus cases, 25 deaths, 282 intubations; distribution

Greece’s health authorities announced on Wednesday 3,442 coronavirus cases and 25 Covid-related deaths in the last 24hours. The number of intubated Covid-patients in hospitals Intensive Care Units increased further to 282 from 258 a day earlier.

Authorities imposed a mini lockdown in Rethymno, Crete, and extended the restrictions in Heraklio and Chania for another week.

Since the pandemic began, Greece has confirmed 547,186 infections (daily change: +0.6%). In the confirmed cases of the last 7 days, 130 infections are related to travel abroad and 1492 to other confirmed cases.

51.2% of the infected are men.

There are 25 deaths recorded in the last 24 hours, the total of pandemic victims to 13,278.  Of these, 95.1% had an underlying condition and/or were 70 years old.

A total of 282 Covid-patients – from 258 a day earlier – are on ventilators in hospitals. Their median age is 64 years. 62.4% are men. 84% have an underlying condition and/or are aged 70 or more.

According to EODY, intubated Covid-patients based on age group are:

  • 18-39: 13
  • 40-64: 128
  • 65+  : 141

2,889 patients have been discharged from ICUs since the pandemic began.

290 Covid-19 patients were admitted to hospital in the last 24 hours (daily change: +33.03%). The average admission of patients with Covid-19 to hospitals over the last 7 days was 240.

The median age of new infections is 40 years (range: 0.2 to 106 years), while the median age of the deceased is 78 (range: 0.2 to 106 years).

Of the 3442 new cases, 21 were detected at the entrance gates of the country and 7 among travelers already in the country.
