Greece’s Health Ministry has suspended all leaves for health public sector personnel from September 1, a day after an all time record number of coronavirus infections was registered on Tuesday.
By decision of Deputy Health Minister Vassilis Kontozamanis on Wednesday, all leaves for the staff of public hospitals and other services are revoked from Sept 1.
Employees at Ambulance Service EKAV, National Heath Organization EODY and other health structures will also return from their vacations.
According to a relevant decision signed by Deputy Minister Kontozamanis, the decision concerns doctors, nurses and other staff in nursing structures and structures of Primary Health Care, such as in Health Centers, Multipurpose Regional Clinics, local health centers.
The decision is valid from September 1 and valid until further notice.
This decision shows that the pressure on the public health care system is constantly increasing as coronavirus cases and intubations are increasing daily. with a record of 4,608 confirmed infections in 24 hours on Tuesday.
