Greece’s health authorities announced on Sunday 1,319 new coronavirus cases and 28 deaths in the last 24 hours. The number of intubated Covid-patients in ICUs increased to 378.

The number of Rapid tests is high despite as unvaccinated teachers and workers have to undergo such a test ahead of Monday, when the new school year starts and restriction measures against the unvaccinated public go into force on September 13.
Since the pandemic began, Greece has confirmed 615,157 infections (daily change: +0.2%). Of the confirmed cases of the last seven days, 188 are related to travel from abroad and 3,002 to other confirmed cases.
There were 28 deaths from Covid-19 recorded in the last 24 hours, bringing the total of pandemic victims in Greece to 14,169. Of these, 95.4% had an underlying condition and/or were aged 70 or over.
A total of 378 patients were on ventilators in hospitals. Their median age was 64 years old and 81.2 % had an underlying condition and/or were aged 70 or over.
3,043 Covid-patients had been discharged from ICUs since the pandemic began.
In addition, 220 Covid-19 patients were admitted to hospital in the last 24 hours. The average daily admission of patients with Covid-19 to hospitals over the last seven days was 208.
The median age of Covid-19 cases is 39 years (range: 0.2 to 106 years), while the median age of the deceased is 78 (range: 0.2 to 106 years).

Of the 1,319 new coronavirus cases, 17 were detected at the entrance gates and 4 among travelers already in Greece.
