Greece’s health authorities will open the online platform on Tuesday, September 14, so that immune-compromised citizens will make appointments for a booster shot of vaccination against Covid-19.
285,000 citizens will start receiving text messages on their mobile phones reminding them that they ca proceed with the new vaccination appointment.
According to state broadcaster ERT, the group of immune-compromised citizens includes those who have undergone solid organ or blood cell transplantation, those who suffer from kidney failure and are being treated, those who have cancer and are undergoing treatment
In addition, also people suffering from autoimmune diseases or other diseases that cause immune-suppression, but also those who live with HIV infection and their cd4s are detected below 200.
Another category that should be given a third dose of the vaccine is those who take cortisone over 20 mg daily for more than 30 days.
The third dose will help all those who have failed to develop high antibodies with the first two doses of the vaccine, health authorities said.
The booster dose will be expanded also to other groups of the society, initially to those over 60 years old. The platform is reportedly scheduled to open at the end of September. Later the platform for those below 60 will be available.
According to media information, the booster dose will be with mRNA vaccines for those who had already two doses of Pfizer, Moderna and AstraZeneca and one dose of Johnson&Johnson.
The booster jab is to be received 6 months after the full vaccination completed, Skai and other media report on Monday.

Question: suppose that 6 months ago, a healthy 60+ citizen has got his two doses and that in September or October, he/she/x gets his/her/its invitation to take the booster shot. And suppose that this person refuses to take the booster. Will he/she/x still be considered ‘vaccinated’ and will he/she/x still have access to bars, restaurants, etc… thanks to his/her/its QR-code in the green pass app? Or will that QR code be cancelled then?
heard today on TV that 2 doses = full vaccination , no problem regarding accesss etc if no 3rd dose.
Perhaps it is interesting to know that a panel of scientists -including two from the FDA who resigned last week when the Biden administration decided to advocate the 3rd vaccination- have stated that there is no proof that vaccinations lose their efficacy and they question if a 3rd vaccination or booster is necessary. They state the the full vaccination (2 vaccinations) still protects against Covid, including the Delta variant.
Don’t take my word for it. They published this in the Lancet: https://www.thelancet.com/pb-assets/Lancet/pdfs/S0140673621020468.pdf
as apparently quite some people got sms for the 3rd jab today there is now a discussion unfolding on Greek social media, especially because WHO hasn’t given green light yet. Some made appointments for anti-body test.
That the CEO of Pfizer is a Greek from Thessaloniki wouldn’t have anything to do with the Greek government pushing the booster vaccine, would it now? He is a veterinarian btw.
Anyway, recent research from Israel and from Oxford indicate that people who had Covid have the best immunity. Even better still when they had both vaccinations after that. Natural immunity protects against all 28 proteins of the Covid virus while the vaccinations protect against only 2, including the spike protein. That doesn’t mean one should get Covid in order to acquire natural immunity. I had Covid and you really don’t want to have it.
So, get vaccinated by a booster is not necessary according to several panels of scientists. It will only boost the profits of companies like Pfizer whose mentioned CEO btw. earned 5 million dollar when he sold his shares in Pfizer.
aha, the problem of the GR gov’t wrong decisions is the Pfizer CEO? Odd, because also Moderna is available for booster shot as both mRNA.
It is relatively easy for Pfizer and Moderna to re-engineer their vaccines so that they work better against the delta variant. It is simply a matter of producing mRNA strands that match the genome sequence of the spike protein of the delta variant rather than the original variant. There would be about a 3 month delay while they produced the new vaccine in quantity. Personally I would prefer to wait 3 months and receive the modified vaccine rather than just get a repeat dose of the original formulation.
How does an ellible person access the application form to make appointment for a booster jab. The original application on Evolio does not go further than the 1st and 2nd vaccinations.
6 months have to have passed after 2nd dose
