Greece’s Civil Protection placed four regional units in mini lockdown on Thursday citing particularly increased virus load. Other factors such as low vaccination rates and increased occupancy at hospitals Intensive Care Units in these regions added to this decision.
According to a statement the regional units of Thessaloniki, Halkidiki, Larissa and Kilkis, all in northern and central Greece are in mini lockown from 06:00 a.m. Friday, October 1, until 06:00 a.m. on Friday, October 8, 2021.
The measures to be implemented are:
- Night curfew from 01:00 a.m. until 06:00 a.m. with the exception for work or health reasons
- Music ban in bars, restaurants, beach bars, entertainment parks and other venues.
The Civil Protection recalls that in the regions under mini lockdown as well as across the country, it is forbidden to hold events in private, not professional spaces, for over 20 people and in exchange of money. Fines of 50,000-200,000 euros are to be imposed to violators.
The mini lockdown restrictions are extended also for one more week in the regional units
- Kastoria, Drama, Imathia, Xanthi, Pieria, Pella, Kavala.
The regional unit of Argolida has improved the epidemiological data and changed its status from “red” to “orange, the Civil Protection said in a statement issued on Thursday evening.
