Coronavirus cases in Greece exceed 4,000, intubations 380; distribution

Coronavirus infections in Greece exceeded 4,000 on Tuesday, with 4,165 confirmed in the past 24 hours. Also the number of intubated Covid-patients in hospitals Intensive Care Units dramatically increased by 26 patients reaching 380. The number of deaths is 25.

Doctors at public hospitals in Thessaloniki, northern Greece, ring the alarm bells saying that in some hospitals ICU capacity reached 100%, while in one hospital a patient is intubated outside the ICU.

At the live briefing on Tuesday, health authorities announced that the online platform for the second dose of Johnson & Johnson – booster shot – will open for appointments on November 5, 2021.

Prerequisite is that citizens have completed 2 months from the date of vaccination with the first dose of J&J.

Authorities said that the platform is open for all citizens regardless of age group, and they can have the second dose with J&J as the first dose or with mRNA.

As of Friday, October 29, the platform emvolio.gov.gr will post also the kind of vaccine next to the vaccination center.

Since the pandemic began, Greece has confirmed 724,571* infections (daily change: +0.6%).

*111 confirmed infections form previous days were added to EODY’s data on Tuesday.

Of the confirmed cases of the last 7 days, 144 infections are related to travel from abroad and 2,876 to other confirmed cases.

Rolling average last 7 days: 3,381 (2647 previous week)

Rt: 1.08 from 1.03 last week

25 Covid-deaths recorded in the last 24 hours, brought the total of pandemic victims to 15,707.  Of these, 95.4% had an underlying condition and/or were aged 70 or over.

A total of 380 patients are intubated in hospitals ICUs, from 354 a day earlier. Their median age is 66 years, 62.4% are men.  79.5% have an underlying condition and/or are aged 70 or over.

40-64: 161

65+:   205

Of the total 380:

327 (86.05%) are unvaccinated or partly vaccinated

53 (13.95%) are fully vaccinated.

3,290 intubated Covid-patients have been discharged from hospital ICUs sine the start of the pandemic.

261 Covid-19 patients were admitted to hospital in the last 24 hours (daily change: +19.18%). The average admission of patients with Covid-19 to hospitals over the last 7 days was 236.

The median age of new infections is 39 years (range: 0.2 to 106 years), while the median age of the deceased is 78 (range: 0.2 to 106 years).

  1. Once again, this is the result of people who dont take the vaccin! And it will continue until we are all vaccinated… Is it so hard to understand????
    Get yor vaccin so that we can get rid of this sh.t and start living a normal life again!
