  1. The current rise in cases per 100,000 population in the past 7 days is now gathering at such an unabated pace that the number has almost doubled in only the past 2 weeks.

It now stands at three times the number it was when last year’s lockdown was announced on 5th November 2020 (commencing 2 days later). The lockdown had to stay in place for 6 months due to the high cases, which only ever reached half of what they are now, accepting that vaccinations were new towards the end.

Greece could overtake the UK any time soon.

I know people are struggling with these unbelievable figures, so if you will allow my rounded figures we are now 399. 16 days ago it was 198. When lockdown was announced last year it was 133. Lockdown peaked at 201 (April 5th 2021).
