Greece’s health authorities announced on Friday 20,507 coronavirus cases and 108 deaths in the past 24 hours. The number of intubated Covid-patients in hospitals decreased to 679.
If one adds to the daily deaths also those registered days later, some 500 Covid-patients lost their lives from Monday to Friday, Jan 17-21.
Two cases of the Omicron subvariant BA.2 have been detected in Greece, EODY announced on Friday.

108 deaths recorded in the last 24 hours, brought the total of pandemic victims to 22,476*. Of these, 95.0% had an underlying condition and/or were aged 70 or over.

679 Covid-patients are on ventilators in hospitals from 688 a day earlier. Their median age is 66 years and 59.2% are men. 81.3% have an underlying condition and/or are aged 70 or over.
Of the total in intubation, 548 (80.71%) are unvaccinated or partly vaccinated and 131 (19.29%) are fully vaccinated.
3,964 have been discharged from ICUs since the pandemic began.
467 Covid-19 patients were admitted to hospital in the last 24 hours (daily change: -7.71%). The average admission of patients with Covid-19 to hospitals over the last 7 days was 512.
The median age of new infections is 36 years (range: 0.2 to 106 years), while the median age of the deceased is 78 (range: 0.2 to 106 years).
