Greece: 19,504 coronavirus cases, 93 deaths, 484 intubations; distribution

Greece health authorities announced on Thursday 19,504 coronavirus cases and 93 deaths in the past 24 hours.The number of intubated Covid-patients in hospitals stands at 484.

4,305 people has died due to Covid-complications from Jan 1 until Feb 17, 2022.

Αt the weekly Live Briefing on Thursday, health experts said that the pandemic withdraws in slow pace.

An improvement of the so-called “hard factors” (deaths, intubations) has been recorded and new hospitalizations including those of children and teenagers have decreased by 13 percent.

However, infections increase has been recorded on the islands of Kea, Karpathos, Thassos and Syros as well as in the regional units of Kilkis and Fokida.

Deputy health minister Mina Gaga said that a total of 2,653 applications for the administration of anti-viral pills have been submitted, however, 322 applications have been cancelled by the patients themselves due to concerns of the side-effects.

Since the pandemic began, Greece has confirmed 2,255,421 infections (daily change: +0.9%). In the confirmed cases of the last 7 days, 363 infections are related to travel from abroad and 2,187 to other confirmed cases.

Rt: 0.99 from 0.98 last week.

93 deaths recorded in the last 24 hours and another 1 from previous days added on today’s EODY data, brought the the total of pandemic victims to 25,095. Of these, 95% had an underlying condition and/or were aged 70 or over.

 

484 Covid-patients from 485 a day earlier are on ventilators in hospitals. Their median age is 66 years, 63% are men and 86% have an underlying condition and/or are aged 70 or over.

4,180 have been discharged from ICUs since the pandemic began.

375 Covid-19 patients were admitted to hospital in the last 24 hours (daily change: -16.19%), while the daily average of admissions over the last 7 days was 377.

 

The median age of new infections is 35 years (range: 0.2 to 106 years), while the median age of the deceased is 78 (range: 0.2 to 106 years).
