Greece’s Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis expressed his support to Ukraine’s European prospects on Monday after the appeal of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy for immediate European Union membership.
“Full solidarity with President Zelenskyy and the people of Ukraine. We welcome Ukraine’s EU choice; they are one of us,” Mitsotakis said in a post on Twitter.

Greece did not hesitate to side with Ukraine after Russia’s invasion, sent military equipment on Sunday and moved to implement all EU sanctions against the aggressor including the closure of airspace and stopping residence permits for Russian investors.
Furthermore, relations with Russia turned also sour on diplomatic level after the killing of 10 ethnic Greek civilians near Mariupol on Saturday. Another two were killed in the village Sartana on Monday, media report.
